Turkey, Hungary or Poland for All-on-6?
Turkey is not the only place UK patients travel for full-arch implants. Hungary and Poland are popular too. All three can offer good care; they differ in distance, in how healthcare cover works while you are there and in how the trips are organised.
Hungary and Poland are closer to the UK, with flights of around two and a half hours from London, and are in the EU, where a UK GHIC covers necessary state healthcare during a temporary stay (not planned private treatment). Turkey is further, at around four hours to Antalya, outside the EU, and the GHIC is not valid there. All three usually use a two-trip model for All-on-6. Prices vary within each country. The clinic, the surgeon and the aftercare matter more than the flag.
Search for full-arch implants abroad and three countries dominate the results for UK patients: Turkey, Hungary and Poland. Each has a long tradition of dental tourism and clinics used to British patients. This is a guide published by a Turkish clinic, so we will say plainly where we have a view. But the differences between the countries are practical, and worth understanding whichever you choose.

Flight times are approximate and vary by airport and season. GHIC rules from the NHS; Turkey rules from GOV.UK.
Distance and the flight home
Hungary and Poland are closer. A flight of around two and a half hours, rather than four, is a real advantage on the way home after surgery, when shorter is kinder. If you live near a regional airport with a direct route to one of them, that may tip the balance. On the other hand, Antalya has direct flights from a large number of UK airports in the main season, and its airport is close to the city, which shortens the transfer at both ends.
Healthcare cover while you are there
This is a difference people often miss. A UK Global Health Insurance Card covers necessary state healthcare during a temporary stay in EU countries, including Hungary and Poland, on the same basis as local residents. It does not cover planned treatment, private care, or the dental treatment you are travelling for. In Turkey, GOV.UK states that neither the GHIC nor the old EHIC is valid. In all three countries, you need travel insurance, and you should tell your insurer about the planned treatment. GHIC is a useful safety net in the EU if you fall ill with something unrelated; it is not a substitute for insurance.
Regulation and checking a clinic
All three countries regulate dental clinics and dentists through national health authorities and professional bodies. The practical check differs. In Turkey, the Ministry of Health's HealthTürkiye portal lists clinics authorised for health tourism, with an authorisation number you can search. In Hungary and Poland, you can check a dentist's registration with the national professional chamber. In each case, ask the clinic for its registration details and check them yourself. Our checklist for choosing a clinic in Turkey covers the Turkish route in detail.
The treatment itself
The clinical approach to All-on-6 is broadly the same everywhere: a 3D scan, six implants per jaw, fixed temporary teeth where stability allows, a few months of healing and a final bridge on a second trip. Implant brands overlap too; the major international systems are used in all three countries. Differences between clinics, in surgeon experience, laboratory quality, materials and aftercare, are far larger than differences between the countries.
Price
Prices for full-arch implants vary widely within each country, depending on the clinic, the implant system, the material of the final teeth and what is included. Turkey is often, but not always, the lowest. The only fair comparison is like for like: two written plans for the same number of implants, the same type of final teeth, with hotel, transfers, extractions and temporary teeth either included or priced. Our sister site allon6cost.co.uk covers costs in detail.
Recovery setting
This is partly personal taste. Budapest and Polish cities offer city breaks with culture and good public transport, though winters are cold. Antalya offers a mild climate for much of the year, the sea and a resort setting, which many patients find a pleasant place to recover between appointments. In the first days after surgery you will mostly rest wherever you are, so do not let the holiday image decide for you.
Aftercare at home
Wherever you go, you will need ongoing care at home: check-ups, hygiene and someone to help if something goes wrong. That is the same challenge in every country. What matters is that the clinic gives you full records, an implant passport with the brand and parts, a written guarantee with clear terms, and a willingness to work with your UK dentist. See maintenance after All-on-6 abroad.
Language and communication
Clinics in all three countries that treat UK patients usually work in English, with English-speaking dentists or coordinators. What varies is who you actually speak to. In some clinics you talk to a coordinator on WhatsApp and meet the surgeon only on surgery day; in others the dentist is involved from the first message. Neither is wrong, but you should know who is making clinical decisions and be able to ask them questions directly before you consent. Ask each clinic how that works.
Seasons and timing
Season affects all three destinations differently. Central European winters are cold and short of daylight, which some people find hard during recovery. Antalya's summers are hot, with July and August the busiest and most expensive months for flights; spring and autumn are often the most comfortable times for a treatment trip. Direct flights to Antalya are fewer in winter. Because the second trip date depends on healing, it may fall in a different season from the first, so check that flights will be available when you are likely to need them.
Distance if something goes wrong
A shorter flight is not only easier after surgery; it also makes an unplanned return visit simpler and cheaper. That is a genuine point in favour of closer destinations. It is balanced, in practice, by how well a clinic supports you remotely: clear records, a responsive team, a guarantee that covers what matters and a willingness to work with a UK dentist. A clinic two hours away that will not answer messages is worse than one four hours away that will.
What the UK bodies say
The General Dental Council and the NHS give the same advice for any destination: research the clinic and the dentist, get a written treatment plan and price, understand the guarantee and what happens if something goes wrong, plan your aftercare and talk to your UK dentist. None of that advice depends on the country.
Our view, as a Turkish clinic
We think Antalya is an excellent place for All-on-6: a short transfer from the airport, a mild climate for recovery, clinics authorised by the Ministry of Health and listed on HealthTürkiye, and packages that include hotel and transfers. We also think Precious Dental is the best choice there; see why Precious Dental. But the honest advice is the same as for any destination: choose the clinic, not the country.
Questions to ask in any country
- Who is the surgeon, and how do I check their registration?
- Which implant brand and system, and what are the final teeth made of?
- What is included in the price, and what could be extra after the scan?
- How many trips, and how long is each?
- What does the guarantee cover, and who pays for travel if something needs fixing?
- Will you share my records with my UK dentist?
Common questions
Is Turkey safer or less safe than Hungary or Poland for dental implants?
Standards vary between clinics in every country. What matters is the individual clinic's licensing, the surgeon's experience, the implant system and the aftercare. Check each on its own merits.
Does my GHIC cover me in Hungary or Poland?
A UK GHIC covers necessary state healthcare during a temporary stay in the EU, but not planned or private treatment such as implants. It is not valid in Turkey. You still need travel insurance.
Is All-on-6 cheaper in Turkey than in Hungary or Poland?
Often, but not always, and prices vary widely within each country. Compare like with like: what is included, the implant brand, the material of the final teeth, and hotel and transfers.
Which is quicker to get to?
From London, Budapest and Polish cities are usually around two and a half hours by air; Antalya is around four hours. Your nearest UK airport and direct routes matter too.
Do clinics in all three countries use two trips?
Usually, for full-arch implants: implants and temporary teeth first, final teeth after healing. Ask each clinic for its timetable.
