The honest case for and against.
Most people look at Turkey because of cost and waiting times. Being far from your dentist has real downsides too.
Reasons people go
- Full-arch implants are rarely available on the NHS, so most UK patients pay privately
- Treatment can usually start within weeks, not months
- An English-speaking team plans the whole trip, including hotel and transfers
- You can check a Turkish clinic's licence on the Ministry of Health's Health Türkiye portal
Reasons to think twice
- If something goes wrong at home, getting it fixed can be harder and cost more
- Two long trips after surgery, with an airline, a hotel and a new mouth to manage
- Standards vary between clinics, in Turkey as in any country
- You'll still need a UK dentist for check-ups, for the rest of your life
Six things to check about any clinic.
You can do all of this from home, before paying a deposit.
- Licence: licensed by the Turkish Ministry of Health
- Dentist: name, qualification and registration of who treats you
- Plan: written, itemised, with the number of implants per jaw
- Brand: the implant brand and system, by name
- Records: an implant passport and copies of your scans
- Guarantee: in writing, including who pays for travel

How many trips to Turkey does All-on-6 take?
Usually two. On the first trip the six implants are placed and fixed temporary teeth fitted. After around four months of healing at home, a second trip fits the final teeth.
How long do I need to stay in Turkey?
It depends on your plan. With Precious Dental the package includes 4 hotel nights on the first implant visit and 5 on the second. Your written plan gives your own dates before you book flights.
Is it safe to have All-on-6 in Turkey?
It can be, but standards vary between clinics. The UK government advises discussing plans with your UK dentist first and doing your own research. Check the clinic is licensed by the Turkish Ministry of Health and that you get a written plan.
Do I need a visa for dental treatment in Turkey?
British citizen passport holders can visit Turkey without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism or business. GOV.UK says to check the visa rules if you are entering for medical purposes, so check with the Turkish Embassy for your own trip.
What happens if something goes wrong when I'm home?
Ask before you book. A clear guarantee, who pays for return travel, and how the clinic works with your UK dentist all matter. See our page on what to do if something goes wrong.
Thinking about the trip?
Tell us where you're flying from and what you'd like done. A patient coordinator replies in plain English, and will say so honestly if travelling isn't the right step for you.
